Catalabras for Halloween

Wine Bottles become Candelabras; Catalabras for Halloween: Nora's Nest
It's officially the month of Halloween, and I couldn't be more thrilled! After spotting these adorable black cat wine bottles at World Market, I knew they had to become something for this year's spooky-glam festivities. Their shape and color seemed purrfect for candelabras, so "cat"alabras is what I made!

After the wine was emptied and the bottle was thoroughly cleaned, I placed a black taper candle in the top of each wine bottle.

(BEWARE: The scariest part of this project is figuring out what to do with all the Riesling! You may have to host a little wine party and enjoy a glass or two before you begin making your own catalabras. The wine is called 2012 Mosel - Riesling Qualitatswein.)

Melted candle wax eerily drips over the cats to give the oh-so-cute bottles a bit of Halloween spookiness.

To force the wax lines to fall where I wanted them, I held a flame on top of the wax for approximately ten seconds. Adjusting the position of the flame allows a wax line drip directly beneath it.

The longer the flame is kept on the wax, the longer the line of wax will fall. For these candles, I wanted an assortment of wax lines -- some short, some long, and some in-between. Lines on the back of these catalabras ensures a spooky look from all angles.

Backed by a gorgeous, glittery orange textile I found in Montenegro, these catalabras are ready to add a spooky-glam touch to my home for Halloween!
